GoodWe Warm Home All-in-One: The Need for Solar PV and Battery Storage Alignment

At the start of the month, energy storage manufacturer GoodWe presented its Warm Home All-in-One Solution at an event in London. The solution ‘integrates solar, storage, EV charging, heating and smart energy management into one unified system, helping homeowners to access clean energy more easily while reducing energy costs’, the company noted.

With the £15 billion Warm Homes Plan, announced by the UK government in January this year, looking to upgrade five million homes by the end of the decade, the direction of travel for installers and vendors alike is clear. “The UK Warm Homes Plan sets a clear direction: to transform households into active energy units,” said Daniel Huang, founder and CEO of GoodWe, “This means homes are no longer just consuming energy but also producing and managing it.”

Markus A.W. Hoehner, founder and CEO of analyst EUPD Group, noted similarly in outlining the UK market. “Demand for residential solar in the UK is growing,” said Hoehner. “The market is structurally aligned for accelerated uptake of solar PV and battery storage.

“We see this trend being reinforced by installer behaviour, with nearly all providers offering bundled PV and storage solutions as a standard residential package in the UK,” Hoehner added.

The GoodWe Warm Home All-in-One Solution includes photovoltaic building materials, inverter and storage system such as ESA Series, as well as heat pump and smart management. The system allows for a 70% self-consumption rate enabling the energy bill to be significantly reduced as well as emissions.

The ESA Series is the centre of the solution. It is an all-in-one solar and storage solution that integrates the inverter, battery charger, UPS-level switching and battery enclosure into a pre-wired modular system for easier and faster installation. The launch noted how the silent nature of the solution was key to its performance and user-centricity, with noise abatement important in residential spaces. To this end GoodWe, alongside TUV Rheinland, released a whitepaper on PV and ESS acoustic performance.

“Clearer industry standards around noise are needed for residential energy storage systems,” said Aditya Lyer, key account manager at TUV Rheinland. “This would help define acceptable noise thresholds and ensure that systems are designed to minimise disturbances in densely populated areas.”
